Creating & Resisting

The toolkit ‘Creating & Resisting’ (full version only available in German) by Verbund Mitte:Ost supports cultural actors in meeting the social challenges of an increasingly polarised present – whether on stage, in the rehearsal room, in public relations or in dialogue with funding bodies. Developed as part of the LAB & KONFERENZ VIELFÄLTIGER OSTEN project, this handbook brings together the results of a broad exchange between actors in the independent performing arts from eastern Germany, Poland, Czechia and the Netherlands. As a value-based source of inspiration, this brochure invites readers to reflect on their own experiences, further develop their working methods and inform themselves with the help of the collected further reading and advice centres.

As most of the resources refer to German literature or advisory services based in Germany, we are exploring ways to make the collection of information publically accessible and useful to English-speaking actors. As a starting point for this process, we offer an expandable digital padlet, that highlights the essential content of the brochure in English and serves as a collaborative space where actors can contribute their own perspectives, experiences, materials or open questions. We are committed to gradually expanding the toolkit with resources from other language contexts - paving the way for full versions in more languages in the future.
