About us

The office of the State Association of Independent Theatres in Saxony (LFTS) was opened in the Villa Wigman in Dresden in 2023.

With the help of institutional funding from the Saxon State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the LFTS was able to transition into a full-time structure with a permanent location for day-to-day business for the first time after many years of voluntary work. The office maintains contacts with politicians, administrators and colleagues in the state and local authorities, the Bundesverband Freie Darstellende Künste e.V. (Federal Association of Independent Performing Arts) and other associations and stakeholders in the performing arts. The office looks after the members and organises events in line with the association's cultural policy objectives. It is also responsible for coordinating projects such as the FUTUR OST cooperative and the Verbund Mitte:Ost.

The Executive Board represents the LFTS internally and externally and provides impetus for the association's work at the head office. The board is elected at the annual general meeting and functions on a parity basis, i.e. without a first chairperson. Its honorary members meet regularly to discuss issues affecting the association and its members.
