Information for members about GEMA
As a member of the Federal Association of Independent Performing Arts (BFDK), we benefit from its overall contractual partnership with GEMA. Among other things, this means that BFDK members, i.e. the regional associations and their members, are granted a 20 per cent discount on the applicable GEMA remuneration rates.
Requirements for the estate
1. the member has duly fulfilled the obligation to register and to submit a list of the music sequence
2. the member has been duly registered as such with GEMA by the BFDK.

In order to be able to use the discount and the benefit programmes of GEMA, a member must be registered with GEMA through the BFDK.
The process is as follows: The respective national association reports the contact details of its members to the BFDK. Only those members who have agreed to the data being passed on to the BFDK by the respective national association are registered.
The BFDK forwards the complete list of member data of all regional associations to the BFDK. The regional associations can notify the BFDK throughout the year of any need to change data and of members joining or leaving.
Note: It may happen that the GEMA discount is not granted even though both requirements are met. In this case, the member or the respective national association is welcome to contact the BFDK by e-mail: post@darstellende-kuenste.de.
The BFDK then checks once again that the membership data has been properly reported and contacts GEMA.
In addition to the discount, members have the option of using GEMA benefit programmes. Further information can be found here.
